The Durham Rescue Mission provides temporary shelter for displaced women and their children. This Legacy Center Leadership project was an Extreme Makeover! This project renovated 17 rooms of an entire wing at the Inn. The renovations included the replacement of carpet and linoleum, and redecorating off all the rooms including repainting. A large mural was painted on the walls and ceiling of the literacy center for children. In addition, the children were treated to a fun day that included games, animal rides and food. The mothers were treated to a pamper day that included massages, hair styling, pedicures, and manicures. This Legacy Center Leadership project created a sense of dignity and elevation above circumstances for the women and children who reside in the hall. The budget for the project was over $40,000. This is a video of the ribbon cutting.
