Legacy Center Leadership Distinctions
If it's to be, it's up to me
Leaders live out of responsibility. Not if it's to do it's up to me. This is not about doing more; it is about the stand I am in regards to the world and my impact. I stand that I am it. I am source/cause for my vision, for the world. As a leader I get that life is now and if I won't act on my vision now, then who will?
100% is possible, 100% of the time
Leaders stand in possibility. Leaders exhaust all possibilities. It is in the possibility that comes the magic. I am always asking myself, what would be possible if, who would I need to be? When I live out of 100% possibility, I cannot compartmentalize my life, and I cannot choose from resignation. There will always be some way to be or something to do, or someone to inspire.
I live my stand as if my life and other people's lives depend on it
Leaders live their stand with urgency and courage, as if people's lives depend upon it. We don't know if they do depend upon it, and we can find evidence that lives are saved. Leaders live with determination and urgency. Human beings will usually wait until there is a crisis to act. As a leader I get that life is now and if I won't act on my vision now, then when will I?
My vision and commitment dictate my ways of being and actions The map used by leaders is their vision and their commitment (living their word). They are being and taking actions aligned with these guiding principles. How do most people live? Most people live from their circumstances, feelings, history, limiting beliefs, what is comfortable, what will look good, being right, and their judgments and assessments. It is a given that when we are up to big commitments, things will flush up that can get in the way if we let them. At the very least, it may be our feelings of being uncomfortable that flush up. Things will come up, how does a leader handle them? A leader hears them, and then chooses from his or her vision and commitments. The opportunity of leadership is to live in integrity. Integrity is being authentic with myself, others, and doing the things I said I would do.
I cause others to be greater than myself The highest purpose of our work is giving to others and the development of other leaders. Leaders give themselves in a way that people leave them larger and empowered.
